We have hands-on the Philips Hue light bulb. The HUE is a personal wireless lighting system that is controlled from either an iPhone or iPad via the Phillips Hue application.
The application also allows you to change the colors and brightness or the bulb. The individual lights are 8.5 watts and they put out 600 lumens. You can link up to 50 bulbs wireless to a single iPhone or iPad meaning you can control every bulb in your home with just you iOS device.
These are not the brightest bulbs out there in the market; neither are they the dimmest, but they are LED with a lifespan of roughly 15,000 hours
The Philips Hue starter kit has three individual light bulbs and a Hue bridge which you connect it to your router via Ethernet cable. Installation takes about three minutes. Philips did a good job with the Hue App, it has a simple layout that is very easy to use
The starter pack starts at $199, you get three light bulbs and a wireless connection receiver. You can also purchase the bulbs individual for $59.95.
