Review: Acer Nitro XV2 – Faster refreshes than you trying to buy a new graphics card

When choosing the right monitor for you and your specific setup there are a number of factors that you have to keep in mind. The first thing to nail down is what the main purpose of the monitor will be for. I’m someone who uses my PC for both my job and also for gaming. This means that I not only need something with a high refresh rate, but also something that makes it easy to look at code on it all day.

Enter the Acer Nitro XV2. This monitor comes in a variety of different configurations. The review unit I was sent was the XV282K. Let me tell you, this monitor is a beast with some ridiculous specs:

  • 4K UHD
  • 144hz
  • 1ms Response Time
  • HDMI 2.1
  • VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification

For me, this monitor has the perfect blend of everyday utility as well as terrific performance.

First Impressions

Upon first setting up the Acer Nitro XV2 you’ll notice how simple it is to attach the stand to the monitor itself. The monitor can also be VESA wall mounted without any other components. The included stand swivels 360° degrees, has a height adjustable from 0 – 120mm, and a tilt angle from -5° to 25°.

The monitor has 2 HDMI ports and 1 Display port input on it, and will intelligently switch between the inputs when multiple devices are plugged in. HDMI 2.1 is also supported so this would be a great monitor for the PS5 or the Xbox Series X.

Everyday Use

I opted to use this monitor on my gaming PC and was stunned by the results. My build currently has a RTX3060ti in it so I was able to really put this monitor to the test. I tested the monitor with HDR mode turned on and usually have my resolution set to 4K @ 144hz. The results were absolutely stunning. I noticed zero screen tearing even when playing some of the most graphic intensive games that I own.

Now in addition to gaming I also spend a significant amount of time on my computer for work. This means that I also need a monitor that is easy for me to look at for hours at a time. Personally I feel that most monitors that are built specifically for gaming can be a bit overkill for everyday tasks, like writing code or cleaning out my email inboxes. With the Acer Nitro XV2 I actually did not feel that way.

The aesthetics of the monitor played into my overall happiness with it as a daily driver more than I thought they would. This monitor is super sleek and can definitely look great on any desk. The bezels are very slim, and where you can see them they are finished in a gorgeous matte black. This matched the rest of the casing for the monitor as well as the stand. And the stand is made from a sturdy metal as opposed to a cheaper feeling plastic. While this might not matter much to you, the aesthetics of a monitor certainly affects whether or not I can use the monitor for everyday use.

The Verdict

If you are in the market for a new monitor then be sure to checkout Acer’s Nitro XV2 series. The specific monitor that I have reviewed in this post is not the only one offered in their Nitro XV2 line, so be sure to check out all of what they have to offer. The prices on the Nitro XV2 series range from $279 – $1099 depending on the specific model that you choose. Here are just some of the features that are offered on this lineup of monitors:

  • AMD FreeSync
  • Up to 270hz refresh rates
  • Up to 4K UHD resolution
  • HDMI 2.1
  • 27″ – 32″ sizes

I was not in the market for a new monitor when I stumbled across the Acer Nitro XV2. After reading about the specs, and realizing that the monitor I had been using before was getting a little outdated I did get pretty excited at the allure of 4k @ 144hz specifically. Overall I am super happy with this monitor and will definitely be looking to Acer for more of my PC accessory needs in the future.
