Review: Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe

Apple products have slowly been taking the jump from wired to wireless charging over the last few years.  Despite this it isn’t easy to find a verified wireless charger that actually works well.  Mophie has designed several docks before and has taken its game up a level with a new 3 in one travel charger.  Can you finally leave all of your cables at home or should you leave Mophie’s 3-in-1 Travel Charger behind?

Being that battery powered devices have become a thing of the past, one of the most important things you have to do is keep your devices charged at all times. Whether you travel for business or pleasure, it’s not unlikely that you have forgotten to bring either a wall dock or extra charging cable with you. Regardless, chances are you are leaving with a bag full of tangled wires and docks and pray that you have everything you need to keep your vital electronics alive. Enter Mophie’s 3-in-1 Travel Charger If you are an apple consumer and have a pair of Airpod-Pros, an Apple Watch and an iPhone this sleek new dock is an incredible find.

Initial Impressions

Upon opening the box I was pleasantly surprised to find a wool felt carrying case inside. I was immediately impressed with the level of quality that Mophie put into this bundle based on the case. The soft gray interior is held shut by a single black button on the front and an elastic band that is connected to the bottom. The inside has three compartments, one that houses the actual Travel Charger, one for the wall dock and the last for the USB-C cable. The 3-in-1 Travel Charger folds into itself making it extremely compact, it could easily fit in your pocket.  It also rolls out completely flat and its simple black and white design just looks great on any surface.

Each of the three charging pads has their own designated square. The USB-C cable plugs into the base of the first square and barely takes up any space. The power of the charger itself is a bit lacking when compared to wired charging, but considering you’re going wireless it’s more likely you are charging your devices overnight so you probably won’t notice.

It is pretty obvious that wireless charging is the endgame for our smart devices.

Performance

When in need of a charging device for multiple Apple products, having a 3-in-1 Travel Charger is an incredible piece of hardware. The charge speeds and output makes it so this is the only charger you need. I quickly found out that the charger for AirPods seemingly only work for AirPods with wireless charging capabilities, I should have read the entire specs before my purchase. I borrowed a friends AirPod Pros and it worked immediately. The performance for charging all three of these devices at once worked very well and didn’t take up a lot of room either. All and all the 3-in-1 Travel Charger works exactly like intended.

Convenience

The Mophie’s 3-in-1 Travel Charger has a space in my heart. The fact that it is wireless and I don’t have to take the cable for each of my three devices alongside is what makes it so convenient. All I need to do is place them on each surface of the three spots available for wireless charging and that’s it.

Safely Charging

It has always been advised to be careful using mobile devices when they are plugged into a socket or an extension box, because electrical charges can be transferred via the wires of the devices to the human body. In situations where rain is falling with the appearance of thunderstorms and lightening or when there’s electrical surges resulting from faulty cables and wires in a users house, or at their work places, offices etc, the human body is a conductor and electrical charges can enter the body.

Accumulation or excess of this electric charges in the body would cause an electric shock that if not treated with caution, the situation would escalate and people around or nearby can be terribly affected. With the Mophie’s 3-in-1 Travel Charger, I do not have to worry about this. It is wireless and it makes use of a magnetic field and not electric field unlike the case of a wired cable there’s no need for it to be connected to a wall socket, there’s also no fear of electric shock accumulating in my body. With this, I am confident that charging my device with it is totally safe and there’s no cause for alarm or need to worry about my charger causing any havoc.

Equal supply

Another thing I noticed with this wireless charger is that all my three devices were charging at almost the same pace. My Airpods’ case was at 25% , my phone battery was at 27% and my I watch was at 24%. On plugging the three of them at once, I thought that if I plug in my iPhone X that the phone would slow down the charging rate of my remaining two devices, but to my utmost surprise, the three devices moved to the subsequent percentage at approximately a difference of 10 to 15 seconds. There’s no draw from any spot to slow the charging of any other device. All I need do is to relax and watch all of them get fully charged. If this is something you are in need of, I would highly recommend it. Check out the official store for more details.
