Huawei is known for making PCs, smartphones, and affordable wearables. Their new wearable, the Huawei Watch GT3 Pro, is a take on the timepiece genre that’s dominated the industry for years now. That means it comes with everything you need to track your fitness over 100 different ways, look great, and stay connected without breaking your budget. So if you’re looking for the perfect smartwatch for every hour, day, and week, read on as we explain everything you need to know about the Huawei Watch GT3 Pro.
What’s the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro?
The Huawei Watch GT3 Pro uses Huawei’s own HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system. Weighing only 54g and available in a single 46.6mm size, it features a 1.43-inch AMOLED colour display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and 326 pixels per inch (ppi) density, making it easy on the eyes even if you’re wearing it all day long. The Watch GT 3 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon Wear processor, combined with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The battery is a much improved 530mAh unit with Qi charging that can last up to 14 days on a single charge with everyday usage.
The Watch GT 3 Pro is IP68-rated to 5ATM, which is approximately 30m. The built-in activity monitoring has also been updated to include new Dive modules to monitor every dive and remind you if you’re diving too deep or for too long.
Other new features include an Always On Display (AOD) and ECG monitoring (which is yet to be approved in Australia).
Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro: Design & build quality
The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro steps up the premium smartwatch experience with the new titanium and sapphire crystal casing. Measuring 46.6mm x 46.6mm x 10.9mm, the proportions are perfect for a smartwatch as elegant as this.
The watch’s bezel is slightly curved and raised from the body at the top and bottom of the face, which looks nice and gives added comfort to your hand while wearing the watch. The genuine leather strap feels nice and is also fairly comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The band on the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro has also aged far less aggressively than on the previous Watch GT 3 model.
The other standout feature for me is the updated multi-function crown that has been milled with a little more curvature to make it easier to use.
A vast array of sensors are baked into the Watch GT 3 Pro as you would expect:
Accelerometer sensor
Gyroscope sensor
Magnetometer sensor
Optical heart rate sensor
Barometer sensor
Temperature sensor

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro: The pros and cons
Right out of the box – the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro isn’t cheap. At just under $900 it’s at the top-end of a very competitive price bracket. However, I think it more than makes the case for this premium pricing in a number of ways.
Firstly, I really like that it looks and behaves as a classic timepiece. After spending some time with the Watch GT 3 Pro, I have come to the conclusion that the Huawei engineers were driven by the desire to develop a smartwatch that delivered on its primary function.
It might sound counter-intuitive; however, the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is an excellent option for those trying to vary their daily and weekly physical activity. The HarmonyOS allows you to save your favourite activities for easy access. Walking the dog in the morning, tracking steps during the day, and finishing with a spirited game of tennis – a walk in the park for this smartwatch.
Why Buy the Huawei GT 3 Pro?
There are three key reasons why the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is worth a look if you’re in the market for a smartwatch:
It looks and feels like a traditional wristwatch and is at the same time a very capable digital health companion.
Superb build quality thanks to the titanium case and sapphire crystal face which makes it super easy to wear all day, every day.
Up to 14 days battery life and Qi wireless charging.
Summary
The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is one of the best-made and sophisticated smartwatches available on the market. Yes, it has a premium price tag – but don’t let that hide the fact that it has a stylish design, an excellent AMOLED display, and day-to-day health and fitness features that last for weeks.
