If you have a budget that is as limited as mine, you may think that you can’t afford much of a smartphone. It seems like all the cool high-tech stuff is prohibitively expensive. For someone like me, it’s easy to think that the only affordable options are those throwaway burners you find in convenience stores. So, when I had the opportunity to review the Motorola Edge 20, I was absolutely blown away by the impression it left on me.
So, what can you get for less than $300USD? (Yup, you read that right!) Stay tuned.

This Phone Deserves Your Attention
The Motorola Edge 20 is a 5G capable, Android 11 (Upgradable to 12), dual SIM smartphone with a 6.7 inch (110.2 cm2) OLED display. It has an impressive main triple-camera setup, a selfie camera, a Li-Po 4000mAh battery, and more. Let’s go into a little more detail, shall we?
Body
With the price range that this phone fits into, the quality of the body is superior to what I would have expected. It goes against the trend of cold metal bodies, such as with the iPhone. The Motorola Edge 20 certainly beats to a different drum. Instead of metal, the texture is one of glass and acrylic. While the frame is made of an aluminum alloy, the front is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with anti-fingerprint coating and the rear is a PMMA (acrylic) rear inlay. It’s a refreshing change of texture. At .28 inches (7 mm) and weighing just 5.75 ounces (163 g), this feature-rich phone is very light and thin.
Display
When it comes to first impressions, the Motorola Edge 20 doesn’t disappoint. Navigating this highly customizable interface is not only intuitive, that Gorilla Glass is pleasant to the touch. Having a display of this caliber for the price is crazy: 6.7 inch (110.2 cm2), OLED (1 billion colors), 144Hz, HDR10+ support, and a 576Hz sampling rate.

Storage and Performance
The Motorola Edge 20 is no slacker with a Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset. The CPU is an Octa-core (1×2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 & 3×2.2 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4×1.9 GHz Cortex-A55). The GPU is an Adreno 642L GPU. It comes with 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, and Bluetooth 5.2 support.
Camera
My favorite premium feature of this way-underpriced phone is its camera setup. It has a triple camera system (capable of up to 4K@30fps) consisting of a 108MP main sensor f/1.9 (wide), a 16MP f/2.2 17mm (ultrawide), and a 8MP f/2.4 79mm (telephoto – 3x optical zoom). Additionally, there is a 32MP f/2.3 (wide) selfie camera capable of HDR and 1080p@30fps.
Battery Capacity
The Motorola Edge 20 comes with a 4000mAH battery, which is more than sufficient. It has an 86h endurance rating and can be used to watch movies for approximately 18 hours non stop or browse for 11 hours. It comes with a fast-charging 30W USB Type-C 2.0 adapter, as well as a 3A-rated USB-C-to-C cable.

Conclusion
If it’s not obvious yet, at a price starting at $279.99 on Amazon (Hurry! As I write this, there are only five in stock!), the Motorola Edge 20 is an impressive steal. You get a sizable bang for your less than 300 bucks! Mind you, if you can afford it, you can opt for the 256GB version instead of the 128GB… but for me personally, I’d rather save the difference. Either way, this is an incredible buy for the price range it is in. My only complaint is that I wish the battery had more capacity… but seriously, I’m not complaining at all about this phone as it far surpasses my wildest expectations for the price. It’s a no-brainer if you can’t afford more… and if you can, well, I’d still say it gives some more expensive premium phones a run for the money.
