Review: Epos Impact 800 Series Headset – Wired for Work

Focus like a boss, sound like a pro!

A growing number of businesses have embraced headsets to improve communication with colleagues, customers and also for online meetings. Headsets are not the only preserve of those in high office, but lots of retail stores use them as well to converse with team members in the stock rooms or the back office, for instance. Even gamers have wholeheartedly adopted headsets to give them a more engaging gaming experience. Headsets can improve the efficiency of a business, leading to positive outcomes for the end user or customer.

With offices in more than 60 countries, Epos are a well-established company with a rich heritage spanning over a century. Their dedication to producing top-of-the-range audio and video solutions has earned them an outstanding reputation. Today, we shall evaluate their Impact 800 Series of headsets.

What’s in the Box?

  • Headset – The headset is beautifully designed with soft, comfortable padding for the ears and top of the head. The earcups provide natural noise cancellation in addition to the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) making it easy to hear what the other person is saying. There is an ANC button on one of the ear cups allowing you to switch it on or off as needed. The other earcup has easily accessible volume control buttons.

The height positioning of the earcups can be adjusted to various positions to provide added comfort for prolonged use of the headset. Each earcup swivels around the centre point to accommodate different contours of the head. The microphone stalk rotates around the earcup and is adjustable to provide the best clarity of speech when in use.

Each side of the headset sports lights to provide a visual alert to others that the headset is currently in use and so not to disturb the wearer.

The quality of sound is far superior than other microphones. With ANC switched on, any harsh background noises are remarkably suppressed. The headset has EPOS BrainAdapt™ built in which gives users the flexibility to multi-task while on the go.

  • Carry Bag – The box contains a handy soft material pouch/ carry bag which can be used to store the headset
  • USB-C to USB-A Adaptor – The USB cable attached to the headset has a USB-C connector however, should your device not have a USB-C port, the box conveniently contains a USB-C to USB-A adaptor
  • Safety Guide – A safety guide is obligatory with any electrical device and for good reason too.
  • Quick Guide – While this headset is Plug & Play out of the box, a Quick Guide is also provided which will ensure you’re making the best use of this tech.

My verdict

The Epos Impact 800 Series of headsets is a plus for almost any environment and will prove to be an invaluable piece of hardware wherever you decide to deploy its use. It’s BrainAdapt™ technology works in tandem with Adaptive ANC to filter out any undesirable noise. My advice to anyone considering using headsets as part of their business toolset is to not overlook the Impact 800 Series headset. This is a sleek, well designed headset which is also budget-friendly at just shy of £80 GBP at the time of writing this review.
