One of the easiest decisions you’ve ever made? I’m not so sure…
What is the Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible?
If you’re wondering what the Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible is, I will first briefly introduce the top-of-the-line model. First and foremost, the Mustang is a very successful car. It has continuously raked in record sales numbers and has been able to maintain its popularity for decades now. And with the latest model, it has improved even further. Of course, when it comes to a convertible, many of you will be wondering why anyone would want to buy a Mustang convertible in the first place. Well, the answer is simple. With the convertible variant, you get the ease and comfort of driving a convertible but with the reliability and durability of a hardtop. This is one of the main reasons why Ford has been continually pushing the convertible variant since its debut.
Key Specs
With that being said, let’s move on and discuss the specs of the latest Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible. This model is powered by an engine which is a 5.0L V8. This might not be the most powerful engine on the market today, but with its torque rating, it is more than capable of providing plenty of power for the car. Coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission, you will get an engine output of 339kW and a torque output of 556Nm. This provides plenty of speed and power when you need it the most. Additionally, the new Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible also comes with a modern yet classic design. It might not be the most modern concept, but with its design and classic look, you will definitely get a lot of compliments when you drive the car around town.
With all that power, comfort, style and design, you also get a very small fuel tank at 61 litres and a bit of a thirst – we saw 15.0L/100km in our time in the Mustang.
Mustang Pricing
As for the price of a new Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible, it tops put just under $80,000. This price will definitely vary depending on the variant you choose. The basic Mustang model will cost you just over $52,000 while the more hard-code Mach 1 winds out to just over $83,000. However, despite the price increase, Ford has been consistently providing good value for money.
What We Like 👍
With the Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible, you are definitely getting a lot of good things with your money.
Interior – The interior of the Mustang is a really comfortable place to sit – even in the back. The seats are really supportive and offer power adjustment in six directions.
Visibility – Stands to reason, but I found the visibility from the driver’s seat excellent in all directions. It certainly wasn’t as bad as I expected with the roof up.
Boot Space – This will easily consume a couple of sets of golf clubs.
Sound System – The 900 Watt Bang & Olufsen sound system is spectacular and mated to Apple Car Play or Android Auto, you’re all set.
What We Don’t Like So Much 👎
The 10-Speed Gearbox – It’s forever-changing gear.
Interior Lighting – Ford clearly tried to be cool and give the Mustang a sexy purple hue, but at night I feel like I’m in a dingy nightclub.
The LED Headlights – Low beam was hopeless, but the high beam was excellent. What a shame.
Final Words: Should You Buy a 2022 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L V8 Convertible?
Overall, if you are looking for a classic yet modern sports car that won’t break the bank and will provide you plenty of value for your money, then the Ford Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible is definitely worth considering. With its great design, reliable and durable build quality, and classic yet modern condition, it is definitely a great choice for any sports car enthusiast. That being said, if you are planning on buying a new Mustang, then you might want to hang on for the seventh generation model coming in 2023.
The 22022 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L V8 Convertible is definitely a great car and a great buy, but it might be better to wait until the next Mustang generation is released in 2023. It will be fantastic.
